A place where you can be sure to find a good coffee shop /cafe, have a picnic by the river or check out the Queens gate mall, where more cafe and other food outlets are located.
Great outdoor parks for children and not too far to drive to the city or use public transport.

Used Lower Hutt accommodation as was attending an event in Porirua and facilities there were booked out a year earlier. Did not experience Lower Hutt at all apart from somewhere to stay and travel to and from.

Petone has a great shopping area on Jackson St and surrounds, with some quirky boutique shops. In particular, I recommend their excellent op shops for quality second hand goods. There are multiple good dining options here, including excellent cafés. We tried "Caffiend", which has excellent coffee.

Was visiting family for Christmas.
Was visiting family for Christmas. Lower Hutt is easy, grew up there. Had dinner twice at Simply Grill Kitchen in Petone, very nice. Would recommend Lower Hutt or Petone for accommodation as very easy to travel into the city - time/distance wise, but accommodation options are probably easier and better value for money 'out the Hutt'

Lower Hutt has easier parking compared to Wellington City.
Lower Hutt has easier parking compared to Wellington City. Motels/hotels are easy access. It has all the major stores in Petone/ Lower Hutt that you need. Industrial area and motor Camp are only 5 minutes up the road.
it’s proximity ,and direct and easy access to the ferries ,without having to go into the centre of Wellington.Very comfortable recliner chair and a good bed,at the end of a long day travelling.we’ve seated 3 times now and will continue to do so,as we travel Interisland. Also only a k or so away are a myriad of restaurants.
The Midway Pacific Lodge wasn't suitable for us. The rooms were not good and smells. I was grateful when my family moved to a better part of the motel. My family is planning to travel to Wellington every year at the same time and we would like to book into the same part not the Midway Pacific Lodge.
Cute little area outside of Wellington with new rooms and very comfortable accommodations. Had a first floor room with sliding door overlooking a residential neighborhood. Nice complimentary washer/dryer was a great surprise. Located well for ferry to the South Island in the AM.
Stayed at the boulcott lodge before a concert in Lower Hutt. The room was lovely, staff friendly and helpful. Love how the rooms are set up and there were a few of our group staying there and we all got neighbouring rooms. Such a nice place.
this place was amazing!! Absolutely beautiful inside and out, very well equipped and had absolutely anything you could ask for. Next time I'm staying in Wellington, this will be one of the first places I look for when arranging accomodation
The property itself was so clean and tidy, very spacious, too much space for the 3 of us. I enjoyed every bit, the area is so close to everything you need , and a quiet area as well. I would stay here again next time we visit Wellington
clean, comfortable and quiet accommodation with plenty of local dining options. Also just out of Wellington CBD but easy driving access to there and all surrounding areas for business. Great wifi too.
Fabulous cottage which exceeded our expectations. Clean, beautifully supplied with so much more than the usual. Highly recommend, and will be staying here again when we come to Wellington
The restaurant meal was superb. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel smelt very nice. The light music that was playing was a lovely touch. The rooms were well laid out.
