Grasmere is full of lovely walks, you don't have to wander far to be in a super stunning surrounding. The walk around the lake is a pretty easy one to follow mainly flat and has a direct path so hard to get lost, but theres definitely opportunities to wander further a field, up into the hills, or over to the caves also from here. The lake is also a great place to paddle board or boat around, it's large enough and not too busy.
We absolutely loved Mathilde's Café at the Heaton Cooper Studio, the food was just delicious and such a pretty shop, great little seating spot outside providing blankets for al fresco dining. Sam Read Bookshop was also worth a look, there are a number of really lovely shops aside from all the main tourist hot spots in Grasmere. We also enjoyed a drink at Tweedies bar which had a lovely atmosphere and be a great place in the summer as it had a lovely beer garden setting to sit outside.

I found the food not to our taste , outragesly Expensive,
very un basic, could not understand why you have dispensed with basic meals,
Very little or no help with the introduction to the hotel facilities.

It was beautifully situated ans very tastefully decorated.
It was beautifully situated ans very tastefully decorated. The only downside is there wasn't a shower in our room and I have mobility issues. Also no full length mirror. The bathrooms are rather small, we burnt ourselves on the radiator a few times using the toilet. Obviously that wouldn't be a problem in Summer. I would stay there again but would want a room with a shower which would also give more room to move around.
The food was really good we ate there each night. Bit confused with breakfast. One day we got two slices of bacon the next day one and the poached eggs we're hit and miss, but there was plenty buffet which was excellent.
All in all a lovely place to stay with lovely staff, places to visit all around and breathtaking views.

We walked up Loughrigg Fell loop from Hotel, wonderful walk ..lots of other options of walks too. Ate at The Grasmere Inn ..sister Hotel ..was very bust..we did book ..lovely cosy feel but wa disappointed with the food .it was average ...burger v dry ..service not best ...althoughvery friendly....New waiter though. Wished we had tried somewhere else ...busy not always the best option!
We’ve been coming to this hotel for a few years now. Only place we’ll stay in Grasmere. The pool and sauna is a key feature. The last time we came, there was a tiny gym facing the sauna. Now it’s a chill zone with loungers. Glad it’s been turned into that, rather than the gym. The bar on site is also a lovely aspect along with a residents lounge to escape the bar if it’s too busy. The beds are very comfortable too. Great place to escape and switch off.
A little gem of a hotel, right in the heart of Grasmere. A lovely welcome from fantastic staff and a very comfortable room. The breakfast was excellent and an unexpected bonus was the complimentary afternoon tea served each day, with beautiful home-made cakes and scones. There are a number of great walks straight from the hotel door and a pub serving excellent meals and a great choice of local beers is just across the road - what more do you need?!!
The hotel is a lovely old edifice right in the village, with comfortable rooms and a delightful light-filled breakfast area. Convenient to everything Grasmere has to offer. After a long, long day on the Coast to Coast Trail, our stay was a very welcoming respite. The staff were friendly and accommodating, even loading us down with a few free energy bars for the road ahead.
The town of Grasmere has become our favorite in the Lake District. Absolutely stunning! Next trip to the UK will include coming here and staying much longer. Towns south of us were lovely but extremely crowded. Grasmere was quiet with fabulous restaurants, tea rooms and walking trails. It was so charming that We felt like we were in the land of Beatrix Potter
Stunning pub with rooms, huge room with fantastic shower & big comfy bed with soft pillows. Immaculately clean. The location is brilliant, just on the edge of Grasmere, good Carpark. Staff were chatty & helpful, really warm & welcoming. Room was lovely. Big Tv. Something for every type of traveler.
Lovely hotel in an excellent location just 5 min walk to centre of Grasmere. Used public transport bus stop 2 mins away. Rooms were spotlessly clean & bed extremely comfortable. Good choice at breakfast. Staff very friendly & helpful. Will definitely stay again when visiting Grasmere.
The location is central in the village of Grasmere and is ideal for walking from the hotel whether it be up into the fells or in and around Grasmere itself. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful peaceful scenery including the well maintained hotel garden in which to relax.
Beautiful hotel in a central location within Grasmere. Breakfast was very tasty and served quickly. We had a room with a view of the long drive leading up to the hotel. The grounds were lovely. Staff were very friendly. Loved the toiletries in the bathroom!
